The HM Courts & Tribunals Service have written to us about the rollout to Courts in our area of the Common Platform Digital Case Management System.

The ‘Common Platform’ is a key element in this programme: a new, digital case management system, bringing together all the relevant information about a criminal case for HMCTS, the Crown Prosecution Service, the Police, the Probation Service and other partner organisations within the criminal justice system. Once fully implemented, it will provide a single, collaborative digital platform for both Crown and magistrates’ courts, cutting down on manual document handling and administrative process.

After the system has been tried with some “early adopter” courts, preparations have now begun for a national rollout. As you’ll see from the letter, the following courts will go live with Common Platform shortly:

  • Aldershot Magistrates’ Court
  • Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court
  • Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court
  • Newport (Isle of Wight) Crown Court
  • Portsmouth Crown Court
  • Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court
  • Southampton Crown Court
  • Southampton Magistrates’ Court
  • Winchester Crown Court

If you have any questions about Common Platform you should contact the Crime Programme at CPOnboarding@justice.gov.uk There’s also a video about the platform on YouTube (embedded below), as well as a copy of the letter here (and below)
